jammu:the first phase of the rs 30-crore optical fiber cable (ofc) connecting srinagar to ladakh is expected to be commissioned by september 14. the ofc project spanned 500 kilometres and was undertaken by the defence ministry and bharat sanchar nigam ltd with the former investing rs 12 crore and the remaining being invested by the latter, bsnl chief general manager, telecommunciations (j&k), p c chhabra, told reporters here on monday.
chhabra said the defence ministry was expected to commission the first ofc route in ladakh region between leh and chuglamsar by september 14 this year.around 2000 subscribers are waiting for installations of their telephones in various exchanges in leh.
